  ABSTRACT

In this talk two study cases developed at the Computer Vision Group at Universidad Politecnica Madrid will be presented. The first study case is concerning Computer Vision for UAV and it shows how it can be used for object tracking and vehicle guidance, this last goal by means of introducing the visual information into the control structure of the UAV. Results are presented for vision controlled helicopter, autonomous landing, high voltage line tracking, isolator tracking and 2D estimation by stereoscopy. The second study case concerns on-line web inspection for the pulp industry, where the hard requirements related to speed, resolution and backlighting had prevent other systems to achieved on-line visual inspections. The presented system uses a TDI based acquisition and statistical processing algorithms. This project has yielded to an UPM spin-off company developing new products in this field.
